What is ISO 9093 about?
ISO 9093 discusses standards for seacocks and through-hull fittings of small craft. ISO 9093 specifies requirements for through-hull fittings, seacocks, hose connections, their fittings, and their installation in small craft with a length of the hull, LH, of up to 24 m.
Note: ISO 9093 does not apply to engine and heater exhaust fittings, and sail drive-through-hull fittings.
Who is ISO 9093 for?
ISO 9093 on seacocks and through-hull fittings of small craft is applicable for these entities:
- Manufacturer of through-hull fittings, seacocks and hose fitting
- Maritime manufacturers
- Small craft manufacturers
- Water transport engineering
- Ship and marine industries
- Quality control professionals
Why should you use ISO 9093?
The seacock is designed to permit operation under any condition likely to be encountered under normal service conditions and a visual check of the open and closed position. ISO 9093 provides you with design requirements for seacocks, which ensures that no part can come loose under normal service conditions. Also provides design guidelines for through-hull fittings, hose fitting and hose connections. As a manufacturer, you would use ISO 9093 to ensure that the fittings that you are manufacturing for small craft, adheres to the specification.
Material used for through-hull fittings, and seacocks should be compatible and corrosion resistant. ISO 9093 provides you with materials requirements used for through-hull fittings, seacocks, hose connections and fittings located below the maximum load waterline.
ISO 9093 describes installation requirements of through-hull fittings and seacocks. Following installation guidelines help to prevent loosening under normal operating conditions.
What’s changed since the last update?
