What is ISO 9454-1 - Classification, labelling and packaging of soft soldering fluxes about?
ISO 9454-1 is an international standard covering classification, labelling and packaging of soft soldering fluxes, facilitating usability, storage and application of soft soldering fluxes.
ISO 9454-1 specifies a coding system for the classification of fluxes intended for use with soft solders, according to their active fluxing ingredients, together with requirements for labelling and packaging
Who is ISO 9454-1 - Classification, labelling and packaging of soft soldering fluxes for?
ISO 9454-1 on the classification, labelling and packaging of soft soldering fluxes is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of soft soldering flux
- Dealers and importers of soft soldering flux
- Metal industries
- Chemical laboratories
Why should you use ISO 9454-1 - Classification, labelling and packaging of soft soldering fluxes?
Flux assists molten solder to wet metal surfaces to be joined by removing oxides and related contaminations from the solder and surfaces of the parts during soldering. Fluxes also protect surfaces from oxidation and assist wetting of the basis metals by molten solder.
ISO 9454-1 provides users guidance on the classification of fluxes on the basis of flux type, flux activation, and halide content, enabling users to classify soft soldering fluxes for appropriate usage.
ISO 9454-1 also provides users guidance on labelling and packing including, supplier’s name and address, name of the product, date of manufacture and more, enabling effective information disclosure and ensuring the validity of the product.
Adoption of ISO 9454-1 enables users to standardize the classification, labelling and packaging of soft soldering fluxes, facilitating the information disclosure, usability, and authenticity in flux applications.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 9454-1:2016 supersedes BS EN 29454-1:1994, which has been technically revised.
