What is BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 - Internal quantum efficiency (IOE) about?
BS IEC 60747 is a series of the international standard used for semiconductor devices that have their electrical conductivities lying between that of good conductors and insulators.
BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 is one of the parts of the BS IEC 60747 series of documents that specifies the test and measuring method of internal quantum efficiency based on the room-temperature reference point. BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 helps in calculating the relative ratios of the EQEs to the value at the reference point.
BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 specifies the measuring method of the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of single light-emitting diode (LED) chips or packages without phosphor.
BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 utilizes only the relative external quantum efficiency (EQE) measured at an operating room temperature. In order to identify the reference IQE, an operating current corresponding to the injection efficiency of 100 % is found and the radiative efficiency is determined by the infinitesimal change of the relative EQE at that point. The IQE as a function of current is then calculated from the relative ratio of the EQEs to the value at the reference point, which is called the room temperature reference-point method (RTRM).
Note: White LEDs for lighting applications are out of the scope of BS IEC 60747‑5‑10.
Who is BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 - Internal quantum efficiency (IOE) for?
BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 on semiconductor devices is useful for:
- Manufacturers of electronic devices
- Semiconductor foundries
- Manufacturers of automotive parts
- Electrical engineers
Why should you use BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 - Internal quantum efficiency (IOE)?
The internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of a light-emitting diode (LED) is the fraction of diode current that will produce luminescence.
BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 assist you in the measurement of the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) at an operating temperature without using any parameter assumptions under established conditions. BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 helps in establishing the uncertainty of the injection efficiency.
The measuring conditions mentioned in BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 helps in performing the test method in accordance with ambient and humid temperatures.
The test method described in BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 ensures the sustainability of Optoelectronic devices.
Moreover, BS IEC 60747‑5‑10 navigates you through the measuring methods of the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) which helps in calculating the relative ratio of the external quantum efficiency (EQEs) to the value at the reference point. This calculation is called the room temperature reference-point method (RTRM). As a result, you can produce high-quality optoelectronic devices or semiconductor devices.
