What is BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 - Internal quantum efficiency (IQE) about?
BS IEC 60747 is a series of the international standard used for semiconductor devices that have their electrical conductivities lying between that of good conductors and insulators.
BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 is one of the parts of the BS IEC 60747 series of documents that specifies the measurement methods which helps in measuring the internal quantum efficiency based on the temperature-dependent electroluminescence.
BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 specifies the measuring method of the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of single light-emitting diode (LED) chips or packages without phosphor.
BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 utilizes the relative external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) measured at cryogenic temperatures and at an operating temperature, which is called temperature-dependent electroluminescence (TDEL). In order to identify the reference IQE of 100 %, the maximum values of the peak EQE are found by varying the environmental temperature and current.
Note: White LEDs for lighting applications are out of the scope of BS IEC 60747‑5‑9.
Who is BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 - Internal quantum efficiency (IQE) for?
BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 on semiconductor devices is useful for:
- Manufacturers of electronic devices
- Semiconductor foundries
- Manufacturers of automotive parts
- Electrical engineers
Why should you use BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 - Internal quantum efficiency (IQE)?
The internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of a light-emitting diode (LED) is the fraction of diode current that will produce luminescence.
BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 is useful in measurement setup that results in avoiding the external disturbance and the test can be performed under definite conditions.
The internal quantum efficiency (IQE) is determined by BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 by analysing the relative external quantum efficiencies EQE converted from the radiant power.
The measuring conditions of internal quantum efficiency mentioned in BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 help in performing the test in different climatic conditions that result in sustaining the optoelectronic devices in different conditions.
Overall, BS IEC 60747‑5‑9 assist you through the measuring methods of internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of the light-emitting diode LED chips and packages at an operating temperature that helps in producing high-quality semiconductor devices.
