What is BS IEC 61196-9 - Coaxial communication cables about?
BS IEC 61196 is a series on coaxial communication cables. Coaxial communication cables are a type of electrical cable consisting of an inner conductor surrounded by a concentric conducting shield, with the two separated by a dielectric (insulating material); many coaxial cables also have a protective outer sheath or jacket. BS IEC 61196-9 applies to RF flexible coaxial communication cables with a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω and with solid or semi-air-spaced dielectric. BS IEC 61196-9 is to be read in conjunction with IEC 61196-1.
Who is BS IEC 61196-9 - Coaxial communication cables for?
BS IEC 61196-9 on coaxial communication cables is useful for:
- Telecommunication component manufacturers
- Telecommunication equipment manufacturers
- Design engineers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use BS IEC 61196-9 - Coaxial communication cables?
Coaxial communication cables are a type of transmission line, used to carry high-frequency electrical signals with low losses. It is used in such applications as telephone trunk lines, broadband internet networking cables, high-speed computer data buses, cable television signals, and connecting radio transmitters and receivers to their antennas. BS IEC 61196-9 describes the Materials and cable construction which includes cable construction, inner conductor, dielectric, outer conductor or screen and sheath.
BS IEC 61196-9 also demonstrates the tests of finished cables which includes electrical testing of the finished cable, low-frequency and d.c. electrical measurements, high-frequency electrical and transmission measurements, environmental testing of the finished cable, mechanical testing of the finished cables and fire performance test methods. Using BS IEC 61196-9 you can understand RF flexible coaxial communication cables with a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω and with solid or semi-air-spaced dielectric.
