What is BS IEC 62766-4-1 – IPTV protocols about?
Internet Protocol television (IPTV) is the delivery of television content over internet protocol networks. BS IEC 62766 series discusses consumer terminal function for access to IPTV and open internet multimedia services. The OPEN IPTV FORUM specifies the user-to-network interface (UNI) for consumer terminals to access IPTV and open internet multimedia services over managed or non-managed networks.
BS IEC 62766-4-1 specifies the protocols, which apply to the following reference point interfaces identified in the architecture described in IEC 62766-1.
- The UNI interfaces, between the consumer domain and the network or service provider domains
- The HNI interfaces, between the functional entities in the consumer network domain
- Interfaces to external systems, which include DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) networks in the consumer domain.
Who is BS IEC 62766-4-1 - IPTV protocols for?
BS IEC 62766-4-1 on IPTV protocols is useful for:
- Providers of IPTV multimedia services
- Multimedia companies
- Software / IT firms
- IT engineers/professionals
- Entertainment and communication sectors
Why should you use BS IEC 62766-4-1 - IPTV protocols?
An IPTV system is used to provide video content over a private network in an enterprise. The different protocols are used in IPTV services for different purposes such as changing the live streaming channel from one channel to another, playing the game online etc.
BS IEC 62766-4-1 describes specific protocols used in IPTV such as HTTP, SIP and SIP/SDP, RTSP, IGMP and multicast protocol, RTP/RTCP, UPnP, DLNA, DHCP, UDP, FLUTE, and Diameter. Each of the protocols specifies the protocol procedures for a specific protocol (e.g. SIP, HTTP etc.). Protocol procedure subclause structure also discussed.
BS IEC 62766-4-1 provides you with the list of the interfaces apart from the UNI along with the protocols that have been adopted for their implementation. BS IEC 62766-4-1 also provides you with a list of the functional entities and reference points in the service provider network.
BS IEC 62766-4-1 helps you to provide a high-quality entertainment experience to your customers.
