Why should you use BS IEC 62830-1 - Vibration-based piezoelectric energy harvesting?
While vibration energy can be converted into electrical energy through a number of capacitive transducers, piezoelectric ones have gained significant traction over the recent years owing to its high electromechanical coupling and no external voltage source requirement.
Piezoelectric energy harvesting has wide applications in aircraft technology, where the piezoelectric patches are attached to the wings of the aircraft to convert the mechanical vibrations into useful electrical energy, that are then used to power the sensors of Aircraft Health Monitoring System, as well as inflight operations and onboard entertainment.
The best industry guidance on common terms, definitions, symbols provided by BS IEC 62830-1 ensures entities involved in operations across the life cycle of devices, have a uniform understanding of the finer details of the semiconductor industry. This can be particularly helpful for design, planning and maintenance of devices for energy harvesting and generation.
BS IEC 62830-1 also shows a test setup for measuring the electrical characteristics of a vibration-based piezoelectric energy harvester.
As a result, BS IEC 62830-1 is your guide to improve energy harvesting capacity and retrieve the power from vibrations efficiently.
