What is BS IEC 62830‑6 - Triboelectric energy harvesting devices about?
BS IEC 62830‑6 is an international standard that discusses semiconductor devices or energy harvesting and generation.
BS IEC 62830‑6 is the sixth part of the series that specifies the test methods which help in evaluating the characteristics of triboelectric energy harvesting devices. This test method helps in manufacturing good quality semiconductor devices.
BS IEC 62830‑6 defines terms, definitions, symbols, and specifies configurations and test methods to be used to evaluate and determine the performance characteristics of vertical contact mode triboelectric energy harvesting devices for practical use.
Who is BS IEC 62830‑6 - Triboelectric energy harvesting devices for?
BS IEC 62830‑6 on semiconductor devices is useful for:
- Semiconductor foundries
- Automation engineers
- Mechanical engineers
- Manufacturer of electronic devices
- Manufacturer of automobiles
- Aerospace industry
- Military applications
Why should you use BS IEC 62830‑6 - Triboelectric energy harvesting devices?
The triboelectric effect is a physical property that is used to harvest energy that can power our wearables.
BS IEC 62830‑6 helps in characterizing the harvester by using an electrometer and force gauge. The ultra-high-impedance meters are useful in measuring and characterizing these devices. The electric characteristics are useful in evaluating the open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, output voltage, output current, output power, optimal load impedance, maximum output power, and also evaluate the capacitance of triboelectric energy harvesting devices.
The mechanical characteristic mentioned in BS IEC 62830‑6 helps in evaluating contact area, input forces, input frequencies, relative humidity range and temperature range of triboelectric devices.
As a result, BS IEC 62830‑6 demonstrates and verifies the performance of vertical contact mode energy harvesting devices, such that incidents of product failures are minimized and the equipment is fit for purpose.
