What is BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 about?
BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 is an international standard used for laser displays that specifies the measuring methods for the optical performance of projection screens. This method helps in improving the picture quality in laser displays.
BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 is the fifth part of Laser displays in multi-series.
BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 specifies the standard measurement conditions and measuring methods for determining the optical performance of a projection screen in terms of its photometric characteristics, including screen gain and speckle contrast, from different viewing directions.
Note: These methods are only applied for the case in which the projection screen and laser projectors are integrated and used with a fixed configuration as a set to create a real image.
Note: This BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 excludes projection screens which are classified as optically see-through screens, including head-up displays.
Who BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 for?
BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 on Laser displays is useful for:
- Manufacturer of electronic display devices
- Manufacturer of laser display projectors, TVs, head mount displays
- Theatre
- Manufacturer of entertainment devices like laser illuminations and lightings
Why should you use BS IEC 62906‑5‑6?
Laser displays are the devices that project the changing beams on the screen to create a moving picture for entertainment or for professional purposes.
BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 helps you in measuring the screen gain directivity and half gain angle of the laser projection screen and also measures speckle contrast so that viewers can view from a different angle. The screen colour shift is useful in differentiating the chromaticity between images projected on the screen and a reference reflectance/transmittance target.
BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 is useful in designing and measuring the performance of projection screens in laser display devices. BS IEC 62906‑5‑6 ensures the sustainability of display devices in different conditions that result in producing better picture quality laser display devices.
