What is BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 – The image quality of eyewear displays about?
BS IEC 63145 is a series of international standards for eyewear display that specifies the measuring methods which help in evaluating the image quality of eyewear displays.
BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 is the 20th sub-part of the 20th part of the BS IEC 63145 series of documents that specifies the standard measurement conditions and measurement methods for determining the image quality of eyewear displays.
BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 is applicable to non-see-through type (virtual reality “VR” goggles) and see-through type (augmented reality “AR” glasses) eyewear displays using virtual image optics.
Note 1: Contact-lens type display and retina direct projection displays are out of the scope of BS IEC 63145‑20‑20.
Note 2: See IEC TR 63145-1-1 [1]1 for eyewear displays, ISO 9241-302:2008, 3.5.45, for see-through types.
Who is BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 - The image quality of eyewear displays for?
BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 on eyewear display is useful for:
- Manufacturers of eyewear products
- Manufacturers of 3D glasses
- Manufacturers of virtual gaming googles
- Personnel of research laboratories
Why should you use BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 - The image quality of eyewear displays?
Eyewear display glasses are used for vision clarity that helps in creating virtual reality images with the help of new technologies.
BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 is useful in indicating the spatial positions of virtual images with the help of a spherical coordinate system of elevation and azimuth.
The darkroom condition as specified in BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 helps in contributing luminance from the background while performing the test. By using a light measuring device (LMD) you can measure the light accurately in eyewear displays.
The measuring methods mentioned in BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 includes the distortion, colour registration error, Michelson contrast and focal distance helps in evaluating the image quality of eyewear displays.
The standard condition specified in BS IEC 63145‑20‑20 is useful in conducting the test in different climatic conditions ensuring the sustainability of eyewear displays.
Furthermore, BS IEC 63145-20-20 can be used to monitor image quality in control quality systems, benchmark image processing systems and algorithms, and optimise imaging systems in order to improve the picture quality of eyewear displays.
