What is ISO 10086‑1 - Methods for evaluating flocculants for use in coal about?
ISO 10086‑1 is first part of a multi-series standard that covers basic parameters for evaluating flocculants for use in coal preparation which enables removal of certain pollutants for environmental benefits and enhances coal’s quality for further applications.
ISO 10086‑1 specifies a method for the comparative evaluation of the performances of flocculants for clarification, thickening and sedimentation applications on a given slurry. This performance can be evaluated by:
- The settling velocity in the initial period
- The sediment volume after compaction and consolidation
- The clarity of the supernatant liquid
Who is ISO 10086‑1 - Methods for evaluating flocculants for use in coal for?
ISO 10086‑1 on methods for evaluating flocculants for use in coal applies to:
- Coal mining plants
- Coal electricity generation plants
- Coal refining plants
- Importers and suppliers of coal
Why should you use ISO 10086‑1 - Methods for evaluating flocculants for use in coal?
The flocculation method is the most frequent sedimentation method for dewatering fine-grained coal waste slurry with a high ash concentration. To design a successful and cost-effective solid-liquid separation system for coal preparation plant tailings by flocculation, the composition of waste materials, particularly clay minerals, must be assessed in addition to the kind and amount of flocculants.
ISO 10086‑1 provides you guidance on principle, materials, sampling, preparation, procedure, calculation of results, repeatability and test report which enables you to determine flocculants for use in coal.
Guidance in ISO 10086‑1 enables you to evaluate flocculants for use in coal which enables thickening and dewatering of coal sludges which contributes to a stable coal powerplant performance.
