What is ISO 10245-2 - Limiting and indicating devices in mobile cranes about ?
ISO 10245-2 is an international standard covering limiting and indicating devices in mobile cranes, ensuring versatility, mobility and operability in heavy load operations.
ISO 10245-2 specifies the requirements for devices that limit and/or indicate the loads, motions, performance, and environment of mobile cranes. The general requirements for limiting and indicating devices for cranes are given in ISO 10245-1.
ISO 10245-2 applies to all mobile cranes as defined in ISO 4306-2 except loader cranes.
Note: 1 Requirement for Loader Cranes are defined in ISO 15442 clause 4.6.
Note 2: Some basic machine types within this scope are convertible for use in excavating work and other applications not considered to be lifting services. The requirements of this part of ISO 10245 are applicable to such machines when used as lifting cranes.
Who is ISO 10245-2 - Limiting and indicating devices in mobile cranes for ?
ISO 10245-2 on limiting and indicating devices in mobile cranes is valid for:
- Mobile crane manufacturers
- Dealers and importers of mobile cranes
- Testing houses for mobile cranes
- Crane operators
- Crane servicemen
- Safety and regulatory bodies
Why should you use BS ISO 10245-2 - Limiting and indicating devices in mobile cranes ?
A mobile crane is a hydraulic-powered crane with a telescoping boom mounted on truck-type carriers or as self-propelled variants. It comes with a cable-controlled crane mounted on crawlers or rubber-tired carriers. It is used for the transportation of building and cargo materials.
ISO 10245-2 applies to all new mobile cranes manufactured one year after the publication of ISO 10245-2. When a component is being modified, its performance requirement shall be reviewed relative to ISO 10245-2.
ISO 10245-2 provides users guidance on motion limiters, including operating requirements, types of hoisting limiters, lowering limiters, and attachment backstops, ensuring operational safety and motion range accuracy in mobile cranes.
ISO 10245-2 provides users guidance on motion and performance indicators, including indicators such as hoisting limit, attachment angle, attachment length, radius, rope drum rotation, slew and more, ensuring operational safety and operability in mobile cranes.
The indicating and limiting devices described in ISO 10245-2 ensure operational stability and provide accurate information to the crane operators, enabling safety, mobility and longevity in heavy load operations.
What’s changed since the last update ?
BS ISO 10245-2:2014+A1:2015 supersedes ISO 10245-2:1994, which has been technically revised.
