What is ISO 10466 about?
ISO 10466 specifies a method for testing the ability of glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes to withstand specified levels of initial ring deflection without displaying surface damage and/or structural failure.
Who is ISO 10466 for?
ISO 10466 on GPR pipes is relevant to:
- GRP pipe manufacturers
- Product design engineers
- Sewer and drainage system planners and designers
- Contractors
- Installers
- Civic authorities
Why should you use ISO 10466?
Glass-fibre reinforced plastics, also known as GRP, is used for its high mechanical strength, lightweight, corrosion and temperature resistant properties, thermal insulation and smooth internal surface. However, long-term pressure can lead to reduction of stiffness in GRP pipes which further leads to excessive deflections and structural damages.
In this regard, ISO 10466 guides you with the performance test for structural integrity, as a function of the resistance to loading.
With ISO 10466 you can detect and minimize overall risk arising from interlaminar separation, buckling of pipe wall and strength-reduction.
Overall, conducting these standardised tests in compliance with ISO 10466 will help you minimize product failures and maintain overall piping system integrity.
