What is ISO 10726 about?
ISO 10726 is a standard that serves technical specifications for dimensions and mechanical strength of portable chainsaws, specifically chain catchers. ISO 10726 specifies the mechanical strength and dimension requirements, and the corresponding test method for the chain catcher of chainsaws.
ISO 10726 test temperature operates within a range of –25 °C ± 3 °C, unless the chain catcher, its fastenings and the saw body are of metal, in which case the test may be conducted at room temperature.
Who is ISO 10726 for?
ISO 10726 on dimensions and mechanical strength of chain catchers in chainsaw is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of hand-held tools
- Dealers and importers of hand-held tools
- Suppliers of hand-held tools
Why should you use ISO 10726?
Chain catcher in chainsaw is a safety mechanism that helps to prevent the chain recoil back towards the user if it derails or breaks. It catches the chain when it derails and shortens it. Safety mechanisms in hand-held tools is important as they are used for mechanical applications and can be detrimental if any accidents occur.
ISO 10726 provides you technical information on chain catching safety requirements which include dimensions of the chain catchers, requirements and test procedure which allows you to enhance the operational safety and protection of chainsaws.
ISO 10726 ensures that the chain catchers operate as intended when the chainsaws malfunctions.
