What is ISO 10952 about?
ISO 10952 specifies a method for determining the chemical resistance properties of glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes and fittings in a deflected condition for nominal sizes DN 100 and larger.
In conjunction with ISO 10928, ISO 10952 provides a method for evaluating the effect of a chemical environment on the interior of a pipe or fitting after a specified period of time. Test conditions and requirements are specified in the referring International Standard. ISO 23856 references ISO 10952.
Note: It has been found that the effect of chemical environments can be accelerated by strain-induced from deflection; hence, this type of effect is frequently referred to as strain corrosion.
Who is ISO 10952 for?
ISO 10952 on GPR pipes and fittings is useful for:
- GRP pipe and fittings manufacturers
- Product design engineers
- Sewer and drainage system planners and designers
- Contractors
- Installers
- Civic authorities
Why should you use ISO 10952?
Glass-fibre reinforced plastics, also known as GRP, is used for its high mechanical strength, lightweight, corrosion and temperature resistant properties, thermal insulation and smooth internal surface.
In this regard, ISO 10952 guides you with the performance test to prove the chemical resistant qualities of GRP pipes and fitting.
With ISO 10952 you can detect and minimize overall risk arising from leak failures, for which the necessary inspection intervals and failure time distribution is provided.
Overall, conducting these standardised tests in compliance with ISO 10952 will help you minimize product failures and maintain overall piping system integrity when used in corrosive applications.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 10952:2021 supersedes BS ISO 10952:2014, which is withdrawn. BS ISO 10952:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 10952:2014. These are:
- The tolerances for the dimensional measuring devices in 6.2 have been modified
- The measurement of the mean wall thickness in 8.2 and the mean diameter in 8.3 have been specified
