What is ISO 11972 - Corrosion-resistant cast steel about?
ISO 11972 is an international standard on cast steels and alloys that discusses the requirements for manufacturing high-quality corrosion-resistant cast steels.
ISO 11972 specifies cast steels for general corrosion-resistant applications. The grades covered by ISO 11972 represent types of alloy steel castings suitable for broad ranges of applications that are intended for a wide variety of corrosion applications.
NOTE: Annex A gives information on ISO grade designation and available UNS numbers which are similar to the ISO grade designation.
Who is ISO 11972 - Corrosion-resistant cast steel for?
ISO 11972 on corrosion-resistant cast steels is relevant to:
- Manufacturer of corrosion-resistant cast steels
- Metallurgist
- Mechanical engineer
Why should you use ISO 11972 - Corrosion-resistant cast steel?
Cast steels have better corrosion resistance than malleable cast iron in industrial atmospheres and are superior or equivalent to the wrought steels in these atmospheric conditions.
ISO 11972 provide guidance on chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment
ISO 11972 exemplifies the required chemical composition and mechanical properties that help you achieve precision in terms of product functionality and specification.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 11972, you can efficiently manufacture high-quality corrosion-resistant cast steels. ISO 11972 provides you with comprehensive information useful throughout the process of production.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 11972:2015 cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 11972:1998), which has been technically revised with the following changes:
- Supplementary requirements (Clause 7) revised
- Table 1 on Chemical composition limits modified — various grades
- Tables 1, 2, and 3 — grade numbers added
- Annex A added
