What is ISO 12614‑18 about?
ISO 12614‑18 is part 18 of the multi-series standard on gas temperature sensor which is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system component.
ISO 12614‑18 specifies tests and requirements for the gas temperature sensor, a liquefied natural gas fuel system component intended for use on the types of motor vehicles defined in ISO 3833.
NOTE-
ISO 12614‑18 is not applicable to the following:
- Fuel containers
- Stationary gas engines
- Container mounting hardware
- Electronic fuel management
- Refuelling receptacles
Who is ISO 12614‑18 for?
ISO 12614‑18 on gas temperature sensor is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of LNG vehicles
- Manufacturers of gas temperature sensor
- Vehicle regulatory authorities
- Vehicle repair shops
Why should you use ISO 12614‑18?
ISO 12614‑18 specifies guidelines for the construction of gas temperature sensor. The guidelines include the materials to be used and the method for assembly of those materials. With the help of the guidelines, you can manufacture durable fuel system components.
ISO 12614‑18 provides marking instructions on gas temperature sensor. The markings will help in identifying and tracing gas temperature sensor.
ISO 12614‑18 provides tests to check the insulation resistance, minimum operating voltage, hydrostatic strength and leakage. These tests enable you to measure the quality of the gas temperature sensor.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 12614‑18:2021 edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 12614‑18:2014), which has been technically revised.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Editorial changes;
- Requirements for insulation resistance (6.4) and minimum opening voltage (6.5)
