What is ISO 12749-1 about?
ISO 12749-1 is the first part of the multi series European standard that contains the terms, definitions, notes to entry and examples corresponding to the basic concepts of nuclear energy, nuclear technologies, and radiological protection subject fields.
ISO 12749-1 provides the minimum essential information for each cross-cutting concept represented by a single term.
Who is ISO 12749-1 for?
ISO 12749-1 on nuclear energy is relevant to:
- Chemical Engineers
- Nuclear power plants
- Nuclear research organisations
- Nuclear research scientists and researchers
- Nuclear regulatory authorities
Why should you use ISO 12749-1?
Nuclear energy comes from splitting atoms in a reactor to heat water into steam, turn a turbine and generate electricity.
ISO 12749-1 provides standard terminologies for nuclear energy, nuclear technologies, and radiological protection and helps to standardize terminology across the welding industry.
Explicit communication of nuclear energy and radiological concepts is crucial considering the relevant implications that may arise from misinterpretation about the equipment and materials used in the standards dealing with these activities. By the international demand for terminology harmonisation in nuclear and radiological activities, ISO 12749-1 assist you in providing general, cross-cutting terms and meanings to satisfy the needs of users.
ISO 12749-1 helps in improving the promotion, knowledge and use of international standards dealing with nuclear energy, nuclear technologies and radiological protection and will help experts develop technical standards to avoid overlapping and contradiction.
ISO 12749-1 guideline promote clear, accurate and useful communication in fields such as basic and applied sciences, nuclear technology, industry, health, safety, security, and human resource training.
