What is ISO 13457 about?
ISO 13457 specifies the construction, operational requirements, and test methods for water-driven chemical injector pumps. These water-driven injector pumps are used to inject chemicals into irrigation systems. The chemicals include liquid fertilizers and solutions of fertilizers and other soluble agricultural chemicals such as acids and pesticides.
ISO 13457 is applicable to water-driven injector pumps intended to operate at water temperatures of up to 50 °C and with the types and concentrations of chemicals routinely applied in irrigation.
Note: ISO 13457 not cover the function of backflow prevention devices, nor is it applicable to water-driven devices for injecting chemicals into an irrigation system operating on the basis of the Venturi principle.
Who is ISO 13457 for?
ISO 13457 on Agricultural irrigation equipment — water-driven chemical injector pumps useful for:
- Agricultural and farming equipment manufacturers
- Dealers and suppliers of Irrigation Equipment
- Irrigation Equipment Manufacturers
- Product design engineers
Why should you use ISO 13457?
Innovations in irrigation technology help with work efficiency. ISO 13457 guides you with the design specifications of water-driven chemical injector pumps that dispense chemicals into the soil as they water crops. The classification of these pumps is presented in ISO 13457 based on installation type and mixing ratio. The technical characteristics discussed in ISO 13457 are based on materials and connection style.
Tests for water-driven chemical injector pumps discussed in ISO 13457 include resistance to water pressure, watertightness of check values, range of working pressure, and resistance to draining. The durability of water-driven chemical injector pumps has also been discussed in ISO 13457. In addition, product marking guidelines have been provided in ISO 13457. ISO 13457 gives you all the necessary guidelines to manufacture water-driven chemical injector pumps.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 13457:2021 supersedes ISO 13457:2008, which is withdrawn. BS ISO 13457:2021 includes some technical changes compared to ISO 13457:2008. These include:
- The definitions have been updated
- In 6.2, a new requirement has been added: Waterways that are not opaque shall be UV resistant if uncovered
- In Clause 8, the test method has been modified: both irrigation and injection water are filtered with a 100 μm filter element (instead of a 120 μm filter element).
