What is ISO 13755 about?
ISO 13755 discusses standards for steel rollers used for mooring and towing purposes.
ISO 13755 specifies the types, nominal sizes, dimensions, and materials, as well as construction, manufacturing, and marking requirements, for steel rollers installed to lead the mooring rope of a ship.
Who is ISO 13755 for?
ISO 13755 on for steel rollers is applicable to:
- Marine industry
- Manufacturers of steel rollers
- Shipbuilding and naval products manufacturers
- Vessel manufacturers
- Design engineers for steel rollers
Why should you use ISO 13755?
The steel roller is a type of ship’s mooring fitting installed onboard, to lead the mooring rope from the ship’s inboard to outboard as a shipside roller fairlead, and to change the direction of the ropes as a pedestal fairlead. The guidelines provided in ISO 13755 helps you with the right dimensions, type, size, and materials for steel rollers for meeting normal mooring and towing requirements.
ISO 13755 provides guidelines about inspecting surfaces in contact with the ropes that should be free from surface roughness or irregularities to cause damage likely to the ropes by abrasion and the steel rollers shall be coated externally with an anti-corrosion protective finish.
As a manufacturer, you would use ISO 13755 to ensure that the steel rollers for mooring and towing purposes adhere to the specification, for optimal operational efficiency and durability.
Also, you can demonstrate the reliability of your products and build trust in their use throughout the marine supply chain by adhering to ISO 13755.
