What is ISO 13765‑7 about?
ISO 13765‑7 is the seventh part of a multi-series of International Standards on refractory mortars. ISO 13765‑7 describes the method for determining the permanent change in dimensions on heating (drying and/or firing) of refractory mortars.
ISO 13765‑7 includes apparatus, test preparation, procedure, calculations, precision and reporting for determination of permanent change in dimensions of refractory mortars on heating.
Who is ISO 13765‑7 for?
ISO 13765‑7 on refractory mortars is relevant to:
- Refractory mortars manufacturers
- Chimney manufacturers
- Masonry fireplaces manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 13765‑7?
Refractory mortar is a specially engineered mixture of sand, calcium aluminate, cement, and fireclay. It is used to lay firebrick in places that are exposed to extremely high temperatures. The refractory mortar is utilized only to build fireplaces and shall not be applied on hot faces.
Permanent changes in dimensions can cause problems in the manufacturing process that use refractory mortars. You can use ISO 13765‑7 to determine the permanent change in dimensions on heating (drying and/or firing) of refractory mortars which will enable you to understand the extent to which the dimensions are changed and take decisions accordingly which will increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Compliance to ISO 13765-7 will thus enable you establish standardised processes on ensuring the optimal functioning of refractory mortars, by reducing risk of cracks and other damages and unsafe practices.
