What is ISO 13776 about?
ISO 13776 discusses standards for pedestal fairleads used for mooring and towing purposes.
ISO 13776 specifies the types, nominal sizes, dimensions, and materials, as well as construction, manufacturing, and marking requirements, for pedestal fairleads installed to lead the mooring rope of a ship.
Who is ISO 13776 for?
ISO 13776 on pedestal fairleads is applicable to:
- Marine industries
- Manufacturers of pedestal fairleads
- Shipbuilding and naval products manufacturers
- Vessel manufacturers
- Design engineers for pedestal fairleads
Why should you use ISO 13776?
The pedestal fairlead is a type of ship’s mooring fitting installed on board to lead and change the mooring rope. Pedestal fairlead is used for changing the direction of a lead of a mooring or other line on a deck. The guidelines provided in ISO 13776 helps you with the best industry specifications on dimensions, type, size, and materials for pedestal fairleads.
ISO 13776 provides guidelines about inspecting surfaces in contact with the ropes, ensuring the absence of surface roughness or irregularities that can cause damage to ropes due to abrasion.
Pedestal fairleads manufactured in compliance with ISO 13776, will ensure of an external coating that provides an anti-corrosion protective finish.
As a manufacturer, you would use ISO 13776 to ensure that the pedestal fairlead for mooring purposes adheres to the specification, for optimal operational efficiency and durability.
Also, you can demonstrate the reliability of your products and build trust in their use throughout the marine supply chain by adhering to ISO 13776.
