What is ISO 13797 about?
ISO 13797 discusses standards for cruciform bollards used for mooring and towing purposes.
ISO 13797 specifies the types, nominal sizes, dimensions, and materials, as well as construction, manufacturing, and marking requirements, for cruciform bollards suitable for installation on sea-going vessels to meet normal mooring and towing requirements.
Who is ISO 13797 for?
ISO 13797 on cruciform bollards is relevant to:
- Marine industry
- Manufacturers of cruciform bollards
- Shipbuilding and naval products manufacturers
- Vessel manufacturers
- Design engineers for cruciform bollards
Why should you use ISO 13797?
Bollards are structures generally built out of metal, used on piers or docks to secure the ship’s mooring lines. The guidelines provided in ISO 13797 can help you with the appropriate selection based on dimensions, type, size, and materials for cruciform bollards, thus meeting normal mooring and towing requirements.
ISO 13797 provides guidelines about inspecting surfaces in contact with the ropes that should be free from surface roughness or irregularities to cause damage likely to the ropes by abrasion. ISO 13797 ensures the cruciform bollards are coated externally with an anti-corrosion protective finish.
As a manufacturer, you can adopt ISO 13797 to ensure that cruciform bollards for mooring and towing purposes adhere to the specification, imparting high operational efficiency and durability.
You can demonstrate the reliability of your products and build trust in their use throughout the marine supply chain by adhering to ISO 13797.
