What is ISO 14222 - Earth's atmosphere from ground level upward about?
In the atmospheric regions up to approximately 100 km, detailed knowledge of the average structure of the atmosphere as a function of geographic location, time in the year and solar activity are critical for the design of aircraft, balloon payloads, and rocket launch activities and many other aspects. ISO 14222 discusses the Earth’s atmosphere from ground level upward.
ISO 14222 specifies the structure and properties of the earth’s atmosphere from ground level upward. ISO 14222 provides internationally accepted empirical models that specify the details of the atmosphere. ISO 14222 also refers to widely-accepted physical models providing insight into the physical and chemical processes driving the response of the atmosphere.
Who is ISO 14222 - Earth's atmosphere from ground level upward for?
ISO 14222 on the Earth's atmosphere from ground level upward is useful for:
- The aerospace industry
- The military
- Space researchers / scientists
- Physicists
- Manufacturers of spacecraft / aircraft
- Manufacturers of aerospace components and equipment
- Manufacturers of balloon payloads
- Product design engineers / innovation team
- Testing / quality control personnel
- The metals industry
Why should you use ISO 14222 - Earth's atmosphere from ground level upward?
Sound knowledge of temperature, total density, concentrations of gas constituents, and pressure in the region above about 100 km is important for many space missions exploiting the low-earth orbit (LEO) regime below approximately 2500 km altitude. ISO 14222 guides you with the interaction of the spacecraft / aircraft and its surroundings.
Aerodynamic forces on the spacecraft, due to the orbital motion of a satellite through a rarefied gas which itself can have variable high-velocity winds, are important for planning satellite lifetime, maintenance of orbits, collision avoidance maneuvering and debris monitoring, sizing the necessary propulsion system, design of attitude control system, and estimating the peak accelerations and torques imposed on sensitive payloads.
Using ISO 14222 ensures a standard method for specifying earth's atmosphere properties (density, temperature, wind etc.) at all altitudes from ground level upward, including the low Earth orbit regime now widely used for space systems and space operations.
BS ISO 14222 provides you with symbols and abbreviated terms for the space environment. ISO 14222 provides you with the usage of the Earth wind model and insights into the long-term changes in the atmosphere.
ISO 14222 also provides you with details of the models and descriptions of natural electromagnetic radiation and indices. ISO 14222 guidelines contribute to the success of flights and space missions.
