What is ISO 1432 – Gehmen test about?
ISO 1432 specifies a static procedure, known as the Gehman test, for determining the relative stiffness characteristics of vulcanized or thermoplastic rubbers over a temperature range from room temperature to approximately −120°C.
Who is ISO 1432 – Gehmen test for?
ISO 1432 on the Gehman test is useful for:
- Thermoplastic tubing and hose manufacturers and suppliers
- Product designers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 1432 – Gehmen test?
Since rubber components undergo extreme temperatures during use, manufacturers need to be sure that the material can withstand these temperature changes without damage. A static procedure, known as the Gehman test is used for determining the relative stiffness characteristics of vulcanized or thermoplastic rubbers.
ISO 1432 walks you through the steps for this test. guidelines include preparation and conditioning of the test piece as well as mounting of the test piece. You are guided to test the stiffness of this test piece in liquid as well as gaseous media. Crystallization is also measured using ISO 1432 guidelines. In addition, you receive guidelines for the number of tests to be performed. Expression of results is discussed with various modules.
Using ISO 1432 guidelines, you will be able to assess the suitability of the particular rubber for your product.
