What is ISO 14428 -Expansion/shrinkage during baking of cold and tepid ramming pastes about?
ISO 14428 is applicable to the production of aluminium.
ISO 14428 specifies the determination of expansion/shrinkage during baking of cold and tepid ramming pastes used in the production of aluminium.
Who is ISO 14428 - Expansion/shrinkage during baking of cold and tepid ramming pastes for?
ISO 14428 on expansion/shrinkage during baking cold and tepid ramming pastes used in the production of aluminium is useful for:
- Industries producing aluminium
- Aluminium testing laboratories
- Industries using aluminium
Why should you use ISO 14428 - Expansion/shrinkage during baking of cold and tepid ramming pastes?
Determining the expansion/shrinkage of ramming pastes used in the production of aluminium is important because excessive expansion/shrinkage can cause cracks in the baked paste serving as a lining material in alumina electrolysis cells.
ISO 14428 specifies principles, procedures, and calculations to prevent leakage of the liquid bath which can destroy the sidewall lining and the steel shell. This will help you avoid shutting down the cell.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 14428:2019 supersedes BS ISO 14428:2004, which is withdrawn.
The main changes to the previous edition are as follows:
- Clause 8: new calculation concept based on average expansion/shrinkage within newly defined temperature ranges
