What is ISO 14490-10 about?
ISO 14490 is an International Standard on optics and photonics that aims to deliver telescopic systems that offer optimal precision and performance.
ISO 14490-10 is the tenth part of a multi- part series that specifies test methods for the measurement of the axial color performance for telescopic instruments and describes the measurement of the joint effect of axial chromatic aberration and spherical aberration of telescopic systems.
Who ISO 14490-10 for?
ISO 14490-10 on axial color performance of telescopic systems is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of telescopic systems
- Manufacturers of optical instruments
- Arms and defence equipment manufacturers
- Regulatory bodies
Why should you use ISO 14490-10 ?
Telescopic systems are tested for their image quality and limit of resolution. The axial colour performance of a telescopic system is mainly determined by two major intrinsic contributions, axial chromatic aberration, and spherical aberration of telescopic systems. Typically, the axial colour performance affects the colour performance in the entire field of view. In this regard, ISO 14490-10 aims to assess the performance of axial colour.
With the test methods, you can prevent failure of a lens to focus all colours to the same point and blurring of the image.
If you are a manufacturer, ISO 14490-10 can assist you in building a high-quality product that offer precision, and accuracy for optimal performance and avoid product failure and damages.
