What is ISO 14511-Measurement of fluid flow in closed conduits about?
ISO 14511 gives guidelines for the specification, testing, inspection, installation, operation and calibration of thermal mass gas flowmeters for the metering of gases and gas mixtures.
Note 1: ISO 14511 is not applicable to measuring liquid mass flowrates using thermal mass flowmeters.
Note 2: ISO 14511 is not applicable to hotwire and other hot film anemometers, also used in making point velocity measurements.
Who is ISO 14511-Measurement of fluid flow in closed conduits for?
ISO 14511 on thermal mass flowmeters is applicable for:
- Petrochemical plants and factories
- Test laboratories
- Natural gas industries
Why should you use ISO 14511-Measurement of fluid flow in closed conduits?
Thermal mass flowmeters are used to measure the flowrate of gases. ISO 14511 guides its users who are concerned with specification, testing, inspection, installation, operation and calibration of thermal mass gas flowmeters. ISO 14511 specifies various types of thermal flowmeters and helps you understand their functions and applicability. This helps you to select a suitable thermal mass flowmeter for your operations.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 14511:2019 supersedes BS ISO 14511:2001, which is withdrawn. The changes compared to BS ISO 14511:2001 are as follows:
- The sentence “The measurand temperature difference between the two sensors is proportional to the mass flow rate” has been removed from 5.1
- The references to the VIM and GUM Guides have been updated
