What is ISO 14620-3 about?
ISO 14620 focuses on fight safety systems. ISO 14620 specifies the requirements for flight safety systems (FSSs), including flight termination systems (FTSs, externally controlled systems, or onboard automatic systems), tracking systems, and telemetry data transmitting systems (TDTSs) for commercial or non-commercial launch activities of orbital or suborbital, unmanned space vehicles. The intent is to minimize the risk of injury or damage to persons, property, or the environment resulting from the launching of space vehicles.
ISO 14620-3 can be applied by any country, by any international organization, whether intergovernmental or not, and by any agency or operator undertaking the launching of space vehicles.
ISO 14620-3 is intended to be applied by any person, organization, entity, operator, or launch authority participating in commercial or non-commercial launch activities of orbital, or suborbital, unmanned space vehicles unless more restrictive requirements are imposed by the launch site country.
Who is ISO 14620-3 for?
ISO 14620-3 on flight safety systems is useful for:
- Flight safety surveillance team
- Aircraft surveillance team
- Space activity operators
- Flight safety officers
- Flight controllers
- Space engineers
- Agencies undertaking the launching of space vehicles.
- Launching authorities participating in commercial or non-commercial launch activities of orbital
- Countries involved in launching space vehicles
Why should you use ISO 14620-3?
Flight safety surveillance capability provides pilots and filght controllers with monitoring and alerts of environmental conditions and threats during the flight. For lateral-directional flight operation, you need to adhere to safety standards during flight. ISO 14620-3 establishes the overall safety requirements to be observed for flight safety systems (FSSs) including all flight operations such as tracking flight, fight termination, data transmitting, etc. ISO 14620-3 provides you with the essential guidelines as well as requirements for flight safety systems (FSSs) to prevent hazards to people and damage to property and the environment while launching space activities.
ISO 14620-3 provides the basic principles to enable any operator to implement its own safety methods, tools and procedures to ensure the safety of people and personnel, public and private property, and the environment, in a consistent and uniform manner.
