What is ISO 14687 - Hydrogen fuel quality about?
ISO 14687 is applicable to hydrogen fuel.
ISO 14687 specifies the minimum quality characteristics of hydrogen fuel as distributed for utilization in vehicular and stationary applications.
Who is ISO 14687 - Hydrogen fuel quality for?
ISO 14687 on hydrogen fuel quality product specification is useful for:
- Fuel transportation industry
- Automotive industry
- Electrolyser manufacturer
- Gaseous hydrogen suppliers
- Liquid hydrogen supplier
- Hydrogen via pipeline distributor
Why should you use ISO 14687 - Hydrogen fuel quality?
PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell technologies have shown remarkable progress such as lowering of platinum (Pt)‑loading, thinned electrolyte membrane, operation with high current density and operation under low humidity.
ISO 14687 focuses on the following items:
- PEM fuel cell catalyst and fuel cell tolerance to hydrogen fuel impurities
- Effects/mechanisms of impurities on fuel cell power systems and components
- Impurity detection and measurement techniques for laboratory, production and in-field operations
- Fuel cell vehicle demonstration and stationary fuel cell demonstration results
Overall, ISO 14687 provides guidance on hydrogen fuel to assist you in identifying the impurities, tolerance, and safety requirements.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 14687:2019 supersedes BS ISO 14687‑2:2012 and BS ISO 14687‑3:2014, which are withdrawn.
ISO 14687 replaces ISO 14687-1:1999, ISO 14687-2:2012 and ISO 14687-3:2014. It also incorporates the Technical Corrigenda ISO 14687-1:1999/Cor 1:2001 and ISO 14687-1:1999/Cor 2:2008.
