What is ISO 15003-Electrical and electronic equipment resistance to environmental conditions about?
ISO 15003 is an international standard that covers testing resistance to environmental conditions for electrical and electronic equipment in agricultural applications which enhances the safety and performance of the equipment in use.
ISO 15003 provides design requirements and guidance for the manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment for use in all kinds of mobile (including hand-held) agricultural machinery, forestry machinery, landscaping and gardening machinery [referred to hereafter as machine(s)].
ISO 15003 gives tests for specific environmental conditions and defines severity levels for tests which relate to the environmental extremes that can be experienced in practical operation of the equipment.
ISO 15003 is intended to be used in determining the suitability of the equipment of these machines, for use in a specified range of environmental conditions.
Note: The severity levels given in ISO 15003 are general guidelines and not guaranteed worst-case exposure levels.
Who is ISO 15003-Electrical and electronic equipment resistance to environmental conditions for?
ISO 15003 on electrical and electronic equipment resistance to environmental conditions applies to:
- Manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment’s for agricultural applications
- Dealers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment
- Testing labs for electrical and electronics
- Safety and quality assurance services
Why should you use ISO 15003-Electrical and electronic equipment resistance to environmental conditions?
With inclusion of technology in agricultural applications, the complexity of agricultural machinery is rising rapidly. The interconnectivity of all these parts enables the smooth functioning of the machinery. Agricultural applications operate under heavy mechanical expectations, hence, testing for safe operability in different environmental conditions is a must.
ISO 15003 provides you guidance on testing for different environmental conditions which include cold and dry heat, damp heat and steady-state, cyclic damp heat, impact which ensures the safety of electric and electronic equipment for agricultural applications.
ISO 15003 also provides you guidance on testing for vibration, corrosive atmosphere, degrees of protection, air pressure, chemical brush or spray, solar radiation, readability of display services and electromagnetic compatibility which enables you to use them in agricultural machinery to ensure safety and protection of the machinery.
Guidance in ISO 15003 enables you develop and assess electrical and electronic equipment that are immune to failures in different environments and operating conditions.
