What is ISO 15364 about?
ISO 15364 discusses standards for pressure-vacuum valves for cargo tanks. ISO 15364 specifies the requirements for performance and testing of pressure-vacuum valves. ISO 15364 also specifies the design and in-service performance criteria, operational testing, and maintenance requirements for pressure-vacuum valves used in cargo tanks and devices.
ISO 15364 applies to pressure-vacuum valves and to devices to prevent the passage of flame, both protecting cargo tanks, that can be subject to explosive gas/vapour and/or to gas/vapour pressure or vacuum beyond the design parameters of the system/tank.
Design or manufacturing in accordance with ISO 15364 does not imply suitability for any given installation, it indicates that certain minimum requirements have been considered and that information necessary for the determination of suitability is provided to the buyer of the equipment.
Who is ISO 15364 for?
ISO 15364 on pressure-vacuum valves for cargo tanks is applicable for these entities:
- Manufacturers of pressure-vacuum valves
- Organizations that design, build and maintain pressure-vacuum valves for cargo tanks
- Shipbuilding and marine industries
- Cargo manufacturers
- Testing agencies involved in the inspection of pressure-vacuum valves
- Design engineers for cargo tanks
- Inspection bodies
- Research and development team
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 15364?
Pressure-vacuum valves for cargo tanks and devices used to protect cargo tanks from excessive over/under pressure. ISO 15364 covers all the requirements for pressure-vacuum valves used for cargo tanks.
ISO 15364 guides you in the design and maintenance requirements. By adopting ISO 15364, you can demonstrate the reliability of your pressure-vacuum valves, and build trust in its use throughout the ships and marine supply chain.
ISO 15364 helps you to construct superior quality of pressure-vacuum valves for cargo tanks and devices to prevent the passage of flame into cargo tanks.
ISO 15364 takes into account factors such as inspection and testing activities associated with the verification pressure vacuum valves for compliance with the standard. ISO 15364 also guides you to use design reviews by manufacturers.
Following the specifications provided in ISO 15364 let’s you manufacture and supply high quality pressure vacuum valves to your customers. These customers can safely use the pressure-vacuum valves.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 15364:2021 supersedes BS ISO 15364:2016. BS ISO 15364:2021 includes some technical changes concerning BS ISO 15364:2016. These include:
- Expansion of the Scope to include devices to prevent the passage of flame into cargo tanks
- Inclusion of requirements for flame transmission tests
