What is ISO 15500‑16 about?
ISO 15500‑16 is part 16 of the multi-series standard that specifies tests and requirements for the rigid fuel line in stainless steel, a compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system component in accordance with ISO 1127 intended for use on the types of motor vehicles defined in ISO 3833.
ISO 15500‑16 is applicable to vehicles (mono-fuel, bi-fuel, or dual-fuel applications) using natural gas in accordance with the ISO 15403 series.
Note-
ISO 15500‑16 is not applicable to the following:
- Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system components located upstream of, and including, the vaporizer
- Fuel containers
- Stationary gas engines
- Container-mounting hardware
- Electronic fuel management
- Refueling receptacles
Who is ISO 15500‑16 for?
ISO 15500‑16 on rigid fuel line in stainless steel is useful for:
- Compressed natural gas vehicle manufacturers
- Compressed natural gas fuel system components manufacturers
- Designers and manufacturers of rigid fuel line in stainless steel
- Vehicle maintenance and repair shops
Why should you use ISO 15500‑16?
ISO 15500‑16 gives you marking instructions that will allow you to identify and trace the rigid fuel line in the supply chain.
ISO 15500‑16 specifies hydrostatic strength test to establish the strength of rigid fuel line in stainless steel. This test will help you make the rigid fuel line more durable.
ISO 15500‑16 lays out guidelines for the construction and assembly of the rigid fuel line.
ISO 15500‑16 provides tests to check the applicability, continued operation and bending. These tests will help you manufacture high-quality rigid fuel line.
What’s changed since the last update?
ISO 15500‑16 is the third edition that cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 15500‑16:2012), which has been technically revised. It also incorporates the Amendment ISO 15500‑16:2012/Amd.1:2016. The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Serial number or data code became mandatory in marking
