What is ISO 15886‑4-Durability of irrigation sprinklers about?
ISO 15886‑4 is an international standard that covers testing methods for durability of irrigation sprinklers which enhances their longevity and operability of irrigation in farming applications.
ISO 15886‑4 specifies the conditions and methods for testing the durability of rotating sprinklers for irrigation.
ISO 15886‑4 describes term sprinkler in a broad generic sense and covers a wide variety of products as classified in ISO 15886‑1, which applies to all irrigation sprinkler classifications having both static parts and moving parts during operation.
Testing agencies and manufacturers can use interpolation techniques in ISO 15886‑4 to reduce the number of actual test runs, provided accuracy standards are still being met.
Who is ISO 15886‑4-Durability of irrigation sprinklers for?
ISO 15886‑4 on Durability of irrigation sprinklers applies to:
- Manufacturers of irrigation equipment
- Dealers and importers of irrigation equipment
- Testing agencies and labs for irrigation equipment
Why should you use ISO 15886‑4-Durability of irrigation sprinklers?
Sprinkler irrigation, also known as spray irrigation, is a means of dispensing water in a regulated manner, comparable to rainfall. Pumps, valves, pipes, and sprinklers may be used to disperse the water. A sprinkler system's principal objective is to provide water to the crop root zone which increases nutrient uptake in plants to increase crop yields.
ISO 15886‑4 provides you guidance on tests on different conditions which include resistance to hydrostatic pressure at ambient temperature, water tightness, flow rate as a function of inlet pressure, trajectory height that enhance the operability of uniform water application to prevent soil erosion and reduce the risk of operational failures.
ISO 15886‑4 also provides you guidance on inspection of sprinkler after durability test which includes construction of sprinkles, resistance to hydrostatic pressure, flow rate, radius of throw water, distribution curve and uniformity of rotation which enables you to draw necessary conclusions relating to the durability of irrigation sprinklers.
Guidance in ISO 15886‑4 allows you to enhance the durability of irrigation sprinklers and reduce the amount of test runs for testing them.
