What is ISO 16014-2 –SEC calibration for polymers about?
ISO 16014-2 is the second part of the ISO 16014 multi-series about polymer characterization using size-exclusion chromatography (SEC). ISO 16014-2 specifies the universal calibration method for determining the average molecular weight and the molecular weight distribution of polymers using SEC. The average molecular weight and the molecular weight distribution are calculated using a universal calibration curve instead of the conventional calibration curve.
Note: This test method is classified as a relative method as described in ISO 16014‑1, but the average molecular weights and molecular weight distributions calculated by the method are equal to, or nearly equal to, the absolute values.
Who is ISO 16014-2 - SEC calibration for polymers for?
ISO 16014-2 on SEC calibration for polymers is useful for:
- Manufacturers of polymers products
- Testing laboratories / researchers
- Design engineers / product development personnel
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 16014-2 - SEC calibration for polymers?
ISO 16014-2 discusses the terms and definitions as well as principles of the universal calibration method. For the method, ISO 16014-2 provides details about reagents, apparatus, procedure, as well as data acquisition and processing.
ISO 16014-2 describes the expression of results by considering the preparation of the universal calibration curve, the differential molecular weight distribution curve, and the cumulative molecular weight distribution curve. ISO 16014-2 guides you to calculate the average molecular weight.
The universal calibration method for SEC equipment using ISO 16014-2 guidelines helps you to get accurate results and readings.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 16014-2:2019 supersedes BS ISO 16014‑2:2012 which has been withdrawn. BS ISO 16014-2:2019 includes some technical and editorial changes with respect to BS ISO 16014‑2:2012.
These include:
