What is ISO 16258-1– Workplace air about?
ISO 16258-1 is the first part of the multi-series standard that specifies the analysis of RCS in samples of air collected on collection substrates by X-ray diffraction when using an analytical approach where dust from the sample collection substrate is recovered, treated, and deposited on another filter for analysis by the instrument.
ISO 16258-1 includes information on the instrumental parameters, the sensitivity of different sampling apparatus, the use of different filters, sample treatment to remove interference, and correction for absorption effects.
In ISO 16258-1, the expression respirable crystalline silica includes the most common polymorphs quartz and cristobalite.
Who is ISO 16258-1– Workplace air for?
ISO 16258-1 on workplace air is relevant to:
- Chemical Engineers
- Researchers and scientists
- Agencies concerned with health and safety at work
- Analytical laboratories
- Industrial users of mercury and inorganic compounds
- Industrial hygienist
Why should you use ISO 16258-1– Workplace air?
RCS is measured by the deposition of dust from a collection substrate onto a filter.
ISO 16258-1 specifies the analysis procedure for the measurement of RCS and is designed to accommodate the variety of samplers and collection substrates used by analysts.
ISO 16258-1 presents a method for analyzing respirable crystalline silica by X-ray diffraction using the Direct-on filter method.
ISO 16258-1 benefits occupational hygienists and researchers in measuring airborne particle concentrations in their workplaces.
ISO 16258-1 specifies methods for analyzing, sampling and monitoring, and preparing samples for the testing and maintenance methods.
ISO 16258-1 standard will enable you to determine the deposition of dust from a collection substrate onto a filter that can be used for multiple purposes and have a multitude of applications, as well as provide comprehensive information regarding inorganic compounds.
