What is ISO 16287 about?
ISO 16287 specifies the dimensions and tolerances for inserted thermoplastic bushes used as plain bearings with or without lubrication grooves in accordance with ISO 12128. These thermoplastic bushes are dimensionally exchangeable to wrapped bushes according to ISO 3547-1.
Note: ISO 16287 is not applicable to reinforced plastics.
Who is ISO 16287 for?
ISO 16287 on thermoplastic bushes is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of thermoplastic bushes
- Manufacturers of plain bearings
- Mechanical engineers
- Manufacturers of industrial machines
Why should you use ISO 16287?
The objective of plain bearings is to prevent wear of the machine's support points, which would occur if the shafts were to roll directly on the structure. It has a large load-carrying capacity. In environments where dust or other particles are a persistent problem, thermoplastic bushes with excellent abrasion resistance are necessary.
The dimensions and tolerances for inserted thermoplastic bushes used as plain bearings with or without lubricating grooves are specified in ISO 16287.
With standardized dimensions and tolerances provided by ISO 16287, you can establish uniformity and consistency in the manufacturing process, enabling you to cater to a wider range of application and markets. Moreover, ISO 16287 is your one-stop guide for selecting the right thermoplastic bushes as per your specific engineering needs.
