What is ISO 16460 — Intelligent transport systems about ?
ISO 16460 is an international standard that deals with intelligent transport systems.
ISO 16460 specifies the Localized Message (LM) format, i.e., an NPDU of a networking & transport layer protocol that does not support routing of a packet through a network and the Service Advertisement Message (SAM), i.e., an APDU to be transported in an LM.
ISO 16460 also specifies the Service Response Message (SRM), i.e., an APDU acknowledging a SAM that offered a service based on an ITS application class to be transported in an LM and related to basic requirements for procedures.
Who is ISO 16460 — Intelligent transport systems for ?
ISO 16460 on Intelligent transport systems is useful for:
- Traffic signal control Department
- Car navigation system developers
- Automatic number plate recognition or speed cameras to monitor applications developers
- Security CCTV systems controller
Why should you use ISO 16460 — Intelligent transport systems ?
Localized communications, i.e., communications without networking through nodes, and service advertisement are essential protocol functionalities in C- Intelligent Transport Systems.
ISO 16460 specifies localized communications, used to communicate with nearby peer stations, e.g., ITS station units or WAVE devices. It belongs to a set of International Standards for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Cooperative ITS. It helps you enable the global interoperability of equipment designed for different architectures.
ISO 16460 showcases the result of the harmonization of FNTP with WSMP, and of FSAP with WSA, which distinguishes interoperability modes, and gives you enhanced features specified in Intelligent transport systems.
