What is ISO 1658 - Evaluation procedures for natural rubber about?
ISO 1658 is an international standard that covers evaluation procedures for natural rubber, enabling the determination of the physical and chemical properties of rubber.
ISO 1658 specifies physical and chemical tests on raw natural rubbers.
ISO 1658 specifies standard materials, standard test formulae, equipment and processing methods for evaluating the vulcanization characteristics of natural rubber (NR).
Who is ISO 1658 - Evaluation procedures for natural rubber for?
ISO 1658 on evaluation procedures for natural rubber applies to:
- Dealers and importers of natural rubbers
- Suppliers of natural rubbers
- Testing labs for rubbers
- Quality assurance services
Why should you use ISO 1658 - Evaluation procedures for natural rubber?
Latex, a milky liquid found in latex vessels (ducts) or the cells of rubber-producing plants, is used to make natural rubber.
ISO 1658 provides users references for sampling and further preparative procedures, enabling the preparation of contamination-free samples for accuracy in physical and chemical testing.
ISO 1658 provides users guidance on physical and chemical tests on raw rubber such as volatile-matter content, Mooney viscosity and others to ensure the quality of natural rubber.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 1658, users can assess natural rubber, ensuring the quality and durability in rubber synthesis and production.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 1658:2022 supersedes BS ISO 1658:2015, which is now withdrawn.
Changes in BS ISO 1658:2022 include:
- Change in the order of the mixing process and reduction of the batch mass
- Addition of the definition of the temperature according to ISO 23529
