What is ISO 1704 - Stud-link anchor chains about?
Stud-link anchor chains provide a mechanism for ships and boats to hold their position during berthing and mooring operations to remain stationary.
ISO 1704 specifies the shape, proportions, dimensions and tolerances of the component parts of stud-link anchor chains. Statutory requirements, rules and regulations can apply to the individual ships concerned.
ISO 1704 discusses terms, definitions, shapes, dimensions, tolerances, grade of the anchor chain, connections, designation of the size, material requirements, loading methods and marking.
Who is ISO 1704 - Stud-link anchor chains for?
ISO 1704 on stud-link anchor chains is useful for:
- Marine and shipbuilding industry
- Manufacturers and suppliers of stud-link anchor chains
- Water transport engineering component manufacturers
- Marine engineers
- Structural designers
- Installers
- Port authorities
- Regulatory bodies
Why should you use ISO 1704 - Stud-link anchor chains?
The anchor grips onto any rocks or debris at the bottom of the ocean or sea, to provide a pivot for the vessel to remain stationary. There are certain standardized specifications contributing to the performance of stud-link anchor chains. They are also capable of increasing the drag of a vessel in a required situation. When trailing behind a ship, they serve as an artificial drag mechanism.
ISO 1704 discusses terms and definitions that depict a user-friendly idea of stud-link anchor chains. ISO 1704 also provides users with shapes, dimensions, tolerances and material requirements which contribute to the performance characteristics of stud-link anchor chains ensuring their reliability. The guidelines in
ISO 1704 help you perceive the loading method of stud-link anchor chains ensuring their sustainability, which enables you to provide a superior quality product to your customers.
