- Series C: open end wrenches
- EXAMPLE 2 Reference nos. 1 1 01 01 0; 1 1 01 01 1; 1 1 01 02 0; 1 1 01 03 0; 1 1 01 04 0
- Series E: hand-operated square drive sockets
- EXAMPLE Reference nos. 2 1 02 01 0 and 2 1 02 01 1
Note: The wrenches and sockets mentioned above are listed under their respective reference numbers in ISO 1703.
Who is BS ISO 1711-1 - wrench and socket technical specifications for?
BS ISO 1711-1 on wrench and socket technical specifications is useful for:
- Manufacturers of wrenches and sockets
- Product designers / design engineers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use BS ISO 1711-1 - wrench and socket technical specifications?
A socket set is designed to help mechanics loosen, tighten and remove any nuts or bolts that are in a vehicle or machine. BS ISO 1711-1 states hardness and minimum torsional strength for hand-operated tools. BS ISO 1711-1 explains the requirements for test torsion torques and hardness testing. BS ISO 1711-1 also sets down the guidelines for testing hand-operated wrenches and square drive sockets. The torque testing of the tools has been described in detail in BS ISO 1711-1.
Using BS ISO 1711-1 guidelines, you ensure that nuts and bolts are securely fitted on machines, ensuring the safety of end-users.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 1711-1:2019 is the fifth edition that supersedes BS EN 61158-4-21:2012 and is identical to IEC 61158-4-21: 2019. The technical changes as compared to the previous edition published in 2016 are:
- General tolerances on opening have been added
- Additional sizes 26 and 29 for width across flats have been added to Table 3
- The structure of the document has been revised
