What is ISO 18436-1 about?
ISO 18436-1 discusses the condition monitoring and diagnostics of machine systems. ISO 18436-1 specifies sector-specific requirements for organizations ("certification body") operating conformity assessment systems for personnel who perform machinery system condition monitoring, identify machine faults, and recommend corrective action. Procedures for the certification of condition monitoring and diagnostic personnel are specified.
Note: These requirements are in addition to those of ISO 17000 and ISO 17024.
Who is ISO 18436-1 for?
ISO 18436-1 on condition monitoring and diagnostics of machine system apply to:
- Engineering technicians
- Engineering colleges
- Certification classes
- Certification bodies
Why should you use ISO 18436-1?
Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machine systems are an integral part of an effective asset management and maintenance programme. Non-intrusive technologies used in condition monitoring and fault diagnosis include vibration analysis, infrared thermography, lubricant analysis, acoustic and ultrasonic analysis, and electric signature analysis.
ISO 18436-1 defines the requirements for your personnel and your organization operating sector-specific certification schemes in the non-intrusive machine system condition monitoring and diagnostic technologies that use the technology parts. General requirements for your certification body are contained in ISO 18436-1.
ISO 18436-1 helps you verify the eligibility of candidates. ISO 18436-1 helps you to set up a process for the evaluation of the general skills of candidates. ISO 18436-1 drafts a framework for you to set up an efficient and accurate evaluation system for the certification examination.
ISO 18436-1 aims to facilitate your certification board in carrying out the examination procedure smoothly.
