What is ISO 18566‑6 - Hydronic radiant heating and cooling panel systems about?
ISO 18566‑6 is the sixth part of the ISO 18566 multi-series that discusses building environment design.
ISO 18566‑6 establishes guidelines for the determination of input parameters for ceiling-mounted radiant heating and cooling panels in relation to ISO 52031. The requirements specified by ISO 18566‑6 are applicable only to the components of the heating/cooling systems and the elements which are part of the heating/cooling panels and which are installed to provide heating and/or cooling.
ISO 18566‑6 is applicable to water-based ceiling-mounted radiant heating and cooling panels in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. The methods apply to systems mounted under the ceiling with an open-air gap between the panels and the ceiling. ISO 18566‑6 also applies, as appropriate, to the use of fluids other than water as a heating or cooling medium. ISO 18566‑6 is also applicable for the testing of systems.
Note: The methods do not apply to heated or chilled ceiling beams.
Who is ISO 18566‑6 - Hydronic radiant heating and cooling panel systems for?
ISO 18566‑6 on input parameters for the energy calculation of water-based ceiling-mounted radiant heating and cooling panels is useful for:
- Manufacturers of hydronic heating and cooling systems
- Testing laboratories
Why should you use ISO 18566‑6 - Hydronic radiant heating and cooling panel systems?
ISO 18566‑6 is part of a series that aims at harmonizing methodology for assessing the energy performance of buildings and is referred to as a “set of EPB standards”.
EPB standards follow specific rules to ensure overall consistency, unambiguity, transparency and bring certain flexibility with regard to the methods, the required data, and reference.
ISO 18566‑6 assists in providing all the required information regarding methods for calculation of energy losses/requirements of water-based ceiling-mounted radiant heating and cooling systems in buildings.
ISO 18566‑6 provides you guidance to bring uniformity among methods used for the calculation of radiant heating and cooling systems.
Overall, ISO 18566‑6 provides for optimization of the energy performance of hydronic radiant heating and cooling systems and enhances their energy efficiency and sustainability.
