What is ISO 18646-4 about?
ISO 18646-4 is the fourth part of a multi-series standard that deals with the performance criteria in robotics for service robots.
ISO 18646-4 describes methods of specifying and evaluating the performance of lower-back support robots.
ISO 18646-4 applies regardless of the purpose and application of lower-back support robots and the driving methods (e.g., electric, hydraulic and pneumatic).
Note: Performance criteria in ISO 18646-4 are not intended for verification or validation of safety requirements
Who is ISO 18646-4 for?
ISO 18646-4 on performance criteria and test methods for service robots is applicable to:
- Designers of robots
- Companies manufacturing robotic components
- Robot research and testing labs
- Services consulting industries on robotic applications
Why should you use ISO 18646-4?
Service robots are semi or fully autonomous robots for automating commercial jobs. Service robots typically perform distant, dangerous and repetitive jobs.
ISO 18646-4 facilitates your understanding of performance of lower-back support robots. It defines the important characteristics and describes how to specify and test them which increase the performance of service robots significantly.
ISO 18646-4 also gives you test methods for assistive torque index and lumbar compression reduction which will enhance the accuracy, motion and load carrying capacity of service robots.
