What is ISO 18669‑2 about?
ISO 18669‑2 is part two of the multi-series standard that defines the measuring principles used for measuring piston pins; ISO 18669‑2 applies to piston pins with a nominal outer diameter from 8 mm up to and including 100 mm, for reciprocating internal combustion engines for road vehicles and other applications.
In certain applications, except road vehicles, and provided that mutual agreement is made between the purchaser and the manufacturer, ISO 18669‑2 can be used with suitable modifications.
Who is ISO 18669‑2 for?
ISO 18669‑2 on piston pins inspection measuring principles is useful for:
- Internal combustion engine manufacturers
- Piston pins manufacturers
- Engine testing facilities
Why should you use ISO 18669‑2?
ISO 18669‑2 defines the measuring principles used for measuring piston pins.
ISO 18669‑2 provides general measuring conditions for measuring piston pins. This will help you in accurately measuring the piston pins.
ISO 18669‑2 gives characteristics and measuring principles for outer diameter, inside diameter, length, core hardness, volume change, material defects, visual defects and grinder burn. ISO 18669‑2 aids you in improving the durability of piston pins.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 18669‑2:2020 is the second edition that cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 18669‑2:2004), which has been technically revised.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- The scope has been defined more in detail
- References have been updated
