What is ISO 19050 about?
ISO 19050 describes the method of determination of both major and trace levels of metal contents in rubber — raw, vulcanized — by ICP-OES.
ISO 19050 gives technical specifications for principle, reagents, apparatus, calibration, also tells you about sample preparation, procedure and test reports for determination of metal content by ICP-OES.
Who is ISO 19050 for?
ISO 19050 on determination of metal content by ICP-OES is useful for:
- Rubber manufacturers and suppliers
- Entities dealing with mining processes, mining purity control, rocks analysis
- Rare Earth elements analysis Laboratories
Why should you use ISO 19050?
The ICP-OES (inductively coupled plasma – optical emission spectrophotometer) instrument is used to determine the concentrations of certain elements in materials of interest.
The determination described in ISO 19050 is important with respect to product safety and the environment. ICP-OES is a state-of-the art instrument for accurate detection of the trace metals in raw and vulcanized samples of rubber including latex.
ISO 19050 determination of metal content by ICP-OES gives
you information about the method of determination of both major and trace levels of metal contents in raw and vulcanized samples of rubber to enhance the efficiency of accurate detection of the trace metals in raw and vulcanized samples of rubber including latex.
The buyers of ISO 19050 get the advantage of ICP-OES over the AAS (atomic absorption spectroscopy) techniques in its multi-element capability, its longer linear dynamic ranges, and fewer condensed phase interferences.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 19050:2021 supersedes ISO 19050:2015, which is withdrawn.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- The CAS numbers have been added for all chemicals listed in ISO 19050
- Clause 3 on “terms and definitions” has been added.
