What is ISO 19072‑1 - Pyrotechnic device pocket interface about?
ISO 19072 is a series of international standards on road vehicles that discusses an increasing number of pyrotechnic devices contributing to occupant safety in vehicles (for example, frontal and side airbags, safety belt pre-tensioner, etc.).
ISO 19072‑1 is the first part of the ISO 19072 series of documents that defines the minimum specification of the pyrotechnic device pocket interface.
Who is ISO 19072‑1 - Pyrotechnic device pocket interface for?
ISO 19072‑1 on pyrotechnic devices is useful for:
- Designers, manufacturers and suppliers of pyrotechnic devices
- Mechanical engineers
- Road vehicles designers and manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 19072‑1 - Pyrotechnic device pocket interface?
The pyrotechnic device is an integral part of the vehicle to validate security access when in a critical scenario. ISO 19072‑1 navigates you through the dimensional features of the squib holder interface including male contacts.
ISO 19072‑1 provides guidance regarding the material specifications for male contacts. ISO 19072‑1 explains the male contacts specifications contacts and short circuit areas. ISO 19072‑1 is applicable for the sealed variant of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly.
ISO 19072‑1 helps you to get undercut geometry for the alternative material of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly.
Moreover, ISO 19072‑1 lets you design and manufacture high-quality pyrotechnic devices for road vehicles in order to test the performance of vehicles in critical situations and provide safety measures. In this manner, you could ensure the quality, reliability as well as performance of pyrotechnic devices.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 19072‑1:2019 supersedes BS ISO 19072‑1:2014. BS ISO 19072‑1:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 19072‑1:2014. These include:
- Greater detail has been specified regarding the contacts and short circuit areas for the male contacts
- Annex C has been added to define an alternative material variant of the pyrotechnic device/initiator harness connector assembly.
