What is ISO 19072‑4 - Pyrotechnic device and harness connector assembly about?
ISO 19072 is a series of international standards on road vehicles that discusses an increasing number of pyrotechnic devices contributing to occupant safety in vehicles (for example, frontal and side airbags, safety belt pre-tensioner, etc.).
ISO 19072‑4 is the fourth part of the ISO 19072 series of documents that defines the general minimum specifications of type 2 two-way connection interface, linking the pyrotechnic device and harness connector built into a road vehicle.
Who is ISO 19072‑4 - Pyrotechnic device and harness connector assembly for?
ISO 19072‑4 on pyrotechnical devices is useful for:
- Designers, manufacturers and suppliers of pyrotechnic devices
- Mechanical engineers
- Road vehicles designers and manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 19072‑4 - Pyrotechnic device and harness connector assembly?
The pyrotechnic device is an integral part of the vehicle to validate security access when in a critical scenario. ISO 19072‑4 navigates you through the dimensional features and performance requirements of connector, retainer and squib holder assembly.
ISO 19072‑4 provides guidance regarding the dimensions and position of coding keys as well as the type of coding used and assigned colour code for connections.
ISO 19072‑4 specifies the dimensions of area for actuating short-circuit opening in retainer dimensional features and properties for shorting clip function.
ISO 19072‑4 gives the material characteristics for the shorting clip and the modulus of elasticity of the plastic used for the retainer.
Moreover, ISO 19072‑4 lets you design and manufacture high-quality pyrotechnic devices for road vehicles in order to test the performance of vehicles in critical situations and provide safety measures. In this manner, you could ensure the quality, reliability as well as performance of pyrotechnic devices.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 19072‑4:2019 supersedes PD ISO/TS 19072‑4:2012. BS ISO 19072‑4:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to PD ISO/TS 19072‑4:2012. These include:
- Coding version IV for two-way has been removed
- Coding version IV and V for three-way has been added
- There has been a dimensional review
