What is ISO 19220 - Plastics piping systems about?
ISO 19220 specifies the requirements for solid-wall styrene copolymer blend (SAN + PVC) pipes and fittings for soil and waste discharge (low and high temperature) above the ground inside buildings, and for the system itself. It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to within this document.
ISO 19220 is applicable to SAN + PVC pipes and fittings, as well as assemblies of such pipes and fittings, intended to be used for the following purposes:
- Soil and waste discharge pipework for the conveyance of domestic wastewaters (low and high temperature)
- Ventilation pipework associated with the above
- Rainwater pipework inside the building
ISO 19220 is applicable to pipes and fittings designed for jointing by means of elastomeric sealing rings, solvent cementing, or integral dual-purpose sockets, i.e., for elastomeric rings seal joints and/or for solvent cement joints.
Note 1: ISO 19220 does not include buried pipework.
Who is ISO 19220 - Plastics piping systems for?
ISO 19220 on styrene copolymer blends used in plastic piping systems for soil and waste discharge is relevant to:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of plastic pipes
- Designers
- Installer
- Specifiers
- Contractors
Why should you use ISO 19220 - Plastics piping systems?
A high-quality piping system is vital for the conveyance and management of wastewater out of buildings. For this purpose, require reliable and robust components are critical.
ISO 19220 defines the requirements for solid-wall styrene copolymer mix (SAN + PVC) pipes and fittings. These include material requirements, physical characteristics, fitness-for-purpose characteristics such as water tightness, air tightness, and elevated temperature cycling. As a result, you will be able to ensure that the joints and piping system are efficient and durable.
ISO 19220 also ensures that sealing rings do not have any detrimental effects on the properties of the pipe or fitting.
Marking parameters take care that the component’s legibility is maintained during storage, weathering, handling, and installation, as well as during the subsequent use of the component. Water with a wide variety of pH values, such as soil and wastewater, rainwater, surface water, and groundwater, is resistant to corrosion by SAN + PVC piping systems that comply with ISO 19220. As the chemical and temperature resistance of the SAN+PVC pipes and fittings is taken into account, you can be assured of proper management of wastewater contaminated with chemicals, such as industrial discharges.
Overall, ISO 19220 will assist you in setting up a safe and hygienic styrene copolymer blends-based plastic piping system inside buildings, enabling an efficient mechanism of soil and waste discharge from buildings. As a result, the reliability and credibility of your piping system could be enhanced with ISO 19220.
