What is ISO 19724 about?
ISO 19724 specifies cleanliness assessment procedures for evaluating the amounts of debris present on the clean side of the constituent parts of high-pressure gasoline direct fuel injection systems. The presence of such debris could lead to a reduction in the system’s operational performance.
While other International Standards (e.g., ISO 16232) relate to the cleanliness of different types of components used in road vehicle fluid circuits, ISO 19724 focuses on the special procedures applied for the components of gasoline direct fuel injection systems.
NOTE: ISO 19724 covers the following components of the fuel injection equipment:
- High-pressure pump
- Injector
- Rail
- High-pressure pipe
- High-pressure sensor.
Who is ISO 19724 for?
ISO 19724 on gasoline engines is useful for:
- Road vehicle engineers and manufacturers
- Manufacturers and suppliers of gasoline engines
- Personnel of engine fuel systems industry
- Manufacturers of high-pressure pipes and pumps
Why should you use BS ISO 19724?
Fuel injection is a system for mixing fuel in an internal combustion engine, most commonly automotive engines, by the means of an injector.
ISO 19724 provides the test procedure to determine the required amount of fluid to evaluate the debris present on fuel injection equipment by performing the cleanliness assessment of components or assembly used for laboratory tests. Also, gives the test conditions of components of the injection equipment.
ISO 19724 specifies the testing parameters for the components of the fuel injection equipment such as the high-pressure pump, the injectors, the rail, the high-pressure pipe, and the high-pressure sensor.
Overall, these test methods allow you to assess the cleanliness of gasoline fuel injection equipment used in motor vehicles to provide better power output, fuel efficiency, emissions performance, reliability along with smooth operation and maintenance.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 19724:2020 supersedes BS ISO 19724:2016. BS ISO 19724:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 19724:2016. These include:
- The reporting of the inspection results changed from FIECC (Fuel Injection Equipment Cleanliness Code, as in ISO 12345:2013) to CCC (Component Cleanliness Code, as in ISO 16232)
- The references to different parts of the ISO 16232 series have been modified to the newest edition: ISO 16232:2018.
